Architecture & retail
A collective project!
This story is being written with the landscape architects of the TER Agency, with whom Studio 5•5 collaborated to develop the low-carbon materials charter for public spaces. A story that then took shape in the creation of the 350 reused streetlamp posts in the village with Concepto, a lighting design agency, as well as exchanges with Alexandre Moronnoz and Sineu Graff, to create inclusive furniture that encourages sports practice... and a coherence of treatment for all small and large innovative equipment and road infrastructure.
A lasting legacy
Derived from the reuse of old street lamps and scaffolding tubes from construction sites, the entire vocabulary of lighting poles has been redesigned. These are the first urban objects symbolizing that it is possible to apply a sustainable design policy, a formidable tool to enable companies and communities to reinvent themselves while considering the challenges of ecological transition.
This project is part of the broader framework of the public space master plan for the "Athletes' Village," of which 5•5 is a part alongside Carlotta Mazzi and Henri Bava of the TER Agency, Egis, the lead contractor for the consortium, on behalf of the Olympic Works Delivery Company - SOLIDEO.
Beyond the hosting needs for the sporting event, an entire new neighborhood has emerged and will be experienced on a daily basis in the "legacy" phase by the residents of Saint-Denis and Saint-Ouen.
A collaboration that highlights Studio 5•5's commitment to supporting public authorities in the practice of sustainable design. A larger scale project that requires more time, discussions, patience, perseverance, and sometimes even struggles... but the interest lies in thinking about the impact of the work for the long term and for the greater good!
